Ristoro l’Antica Scuderia is located in a tiny mediaeval village in the enchanting hills of Chianti Classico.
The name – “ancient stables” – says a lot about its history: it was indeed a post house, where travellers would stop to rest and change their horses before continuing along the road known as the Gardingo di Passignano.
Careful and sensitive restoration work has now turned it into an elegant restaurant with great attention to detail. Come in and discover the finest delights of Tuscan cuisine, and enjoy the peace and quiet of a garden deep in the green, with cypress trees and splendid vineyards all around.
Between Florence and Siena, in the green hills of Chianti, Tavarnelle Val di Pesa has lost none of its beauty over the centuries. Originally it was called Tabernulae – a name that derives from “taberne”, the taverns where travellers would rest before continuing on their way along roads joining Florence to the mediaeval Via Francigena, the pilgims’ route which ran from Rome to beyond the Alps.
You will never fail to be enchanted by a landscape where time appears to stand still. And every day you will have new opportunities to discover mighty castles, delightful mediaeval villages and artistic gems in the local parish churches.
Ristoro l’Antica Scuderia is open every day from 12.30 p.m. to 2.30 p.m., and from 7.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.. It is closed on Tuesdays.
